Introduce About Myself
Hi, I’m Melissa. I am a second-year international student from China, majoring in plant science. Before entering UC Davis, my life was already filled with various interests and colorful experiences.
Plants and Nature: Where the heart belongs
My love for plants and nature is from my childhood experiences. I used to live in a small village with my grandparents. There are rolling mountains, streams and springs, and large fields. I really got in close contact with nature and felt the vitality of life and the beauty of nature
. I learned to harmonize with nature and know how to get along with it. In the autumn fields, I can see rows of ripe corn, cotton and soybeans. These crops are able to grow well because of the cultivation of my grandparents. I could feel the whispers of the plants, as if they were speaking to me of their life. It was this childhood that made me realize the power of plants and nature. I believe that plants are the most wonderful gift of nature and my link to nature. Currently, despite being in the city, I still have a passion for exploring plants and nature.
Therefore, I remain passionate about the study of plants, nature and agriculture. I hope to explore the deeper connections between them and contribute to the protection and utilization of environmental resources. In the future, I want to devote myself to the field of agriculture and sustainable development, so that more and more people can benefit from plants, and at the same time, I can spread my passion for nature to others.
Music: The sound of my soul
Music has been a part of my life since I started learning the Erhu, a famous Chinese classical instrument, at the age of seven. I am very sensitive to music, it seems to me to be alive. Whenever I play the Erhu, I can express different emotions in my heart through the instrument, and this wonderful feeling makes me fascinated. I play a lot of Chinese classical music from the last century, which makes me feel like I'm in the history of that time.
In order to communicate with other music lovers, I used to participate in performances of the music club and art festivals on campus. Despite graduating, I still keep in touch with other music-interested peers through social media groups and music forums. They post about music, such as guitar composition, performances in their cities, and music appreciation. Not only was I able to exchange experiences with people who also loved music, but I was also able to discover new musical talents and inspirations.
Cosplay world: The intersection of virtual and real
In my life, cosplay is my hobby. I play with friends as characters from our favorite games or anime, and the excitement takes me into another realm. These activities provide an opportunity to reduce the gap between reality and fiction, allowing us to interact not only with each other, but also with the virtual characters we appreciate. I have deepened my appreciation for this activity while getting my own experience as a vibrant community resident.
In order to connect with other enthusiasts, I actively participate in offline activities, like Bilibili World in Shanghai, where many people with the same hobby gather. I found myself surrounded by a wide variety of people who all shared a passion for cosplay. I was able to exchange stories with new and enthusiastic friends and gained a greater understanding of the artistry and creativity behind each character.
This is me, full of passion and a colorful life. I can't wait to share more of my life with you through my blog!
